About the event

For our February monthly meeting, we will be joined by Nathan Thomas (UCL) who will be speaking to us about qualitative analysis.

Nathan is joining us to discuss different ways of 'dealing with' data that we want to analyse qualitatively. In addition, he'll speak to us about Process Tracing for self-assessment as an exemplary qualitative method that is relatively new to the field of applied linguistics. There will be time for Q&A at the end.

Nathan's research interests include strategies for language learning and use, sources of learning regulation (e.g., self-regulation,  co-regulation, socially shared regulation, etc.), and, more generally,  social/psychological factors affecting learning. He has also recently developed an interest in theory building and innovative qualitative  methods.
