About the event
We will have MA dissertation 'reflections' presentations by Zening Yang (University of Warwick) and Katarina Mentzelopoulos (University of Nottingham), followed by questions and comments.
Zening Yang: Mentoring teachers to become researchers
Teacher research as an international movement since the 1970s has been advocated worldwide to promote the professional development of language teachers. However, for teachers to become researchers, having access to appropriate mentoring can be a crucial factor (Dikilitaş & Wyatt, 2018). Zening will present an ongoing narrative inquiry into the experiences of ten teacher-research mentors from various international contexts. She will provide a critical reflection upon the methodological decisions made in this study, and share some preliminary findings.
Katarina Mentzelopoulos: Exploring Pronunciation and Motivation in Language Learning
Katarina's MA dissertation project used online surveys and exploratory factor analysis to investigate language learners’ attitudes towards learning pronunciation and its relationship with their language learning motivation. She will reflect on the survey development process and some preliminary findings.
